The Rio Grande Cutthroat trout is the southernmost native cutthroat species in the United States, and it is cherished by high country fly anglers.  A current resident of New Mexico and Colorado, with a historical range stretching to Texas, the Rio Grande Cutthroat is truly a resilient and marvelous fish. 

Thanks to non-native trout introduction and a myriad of other factors, in recent years, the Rio Grande Cutthroat has suffered much at the hands of man.  However, there are many organizations and conservationists today who are dedicated to reversing past wrongdoings.  Chris Johnson is one such individual.  In his presentation, he will discuss the Rio Grande Cutthroat’s history, distribution, and current status, as well as conservation efforts benefiting the species throughout its range.  Chris is an avid Rio Grande Cutthroat angler, and he will share some tips and tricks to that will help you maximize your success on your next cutthroat expedition!
