Nick Streit grew up in a family steeped in fly fishing. His father, Taylor Streit, is a longtime New Mexico guide and author, and Nick began guiding anglers before he was old enough to drive. At 17, he competed with the U.S. Fly Fishing Team, helping the team earn a second-place finish at the World Fly Fishing Championships in Wales.

Nick then guided and fished throughout the Bahamas, Argentina, and Alaska before returning home to Northern New Mexico. In 2004, he and his wife, Chrissy, reopened the Taos Fly Shop in its original location. Since then, the shop has grown into one of the Southwest’s most respected fly-fishing outfitters.

Nick’s work has increasingly focused on conservation and public lands. He currently serves as Executive Director of Friends of the Rio Grande del Norte, working to protect the natural resources and communities connected to the Rio Grande del Norte National Monument.

Nick continues to host fly-fishing trips around the world and is an accomplished outdoor photographer. When he’s not working, he can usually be found camping, hunting, or fishing with Chrissy and their two children, Taylor and Christian.
