Emily Johnson and her husband, Chris, own Living Waters Fly Fishing, a fly shop and guide service based in Round Rock, Texas. In the Johnson household, fly fishing is truly a family affair, and Emily can often be found at the shop or on the water alongside her daughter, Lydia, and son, David.

Emily grew up near the South Fork of the San Gabriel River, one of the premier fly-fishing destinations in the Texas Hill Country. She took her first fly-casting lesson as a teenager and immediately fell in love with the sport. What captivated her most was the realization that fly fishing is a lifelong pursuit—one that continually offers new opportunities to learn, grow, and connect with the outdoors.

Over the years, Emily has traveled extensively, fishing in multiple states and several countries while pursuing a diverse range of gamefish species. She is the author of the bestselling children’s fly-fishing book Fly Fishing From Head to Toe and is passionate about introducing the next generation to the sport.

As a certified Texas Parks and Wildlife Angler Educator and longtime custom fly tier for Living Waters Fly Fishing, Emily is dedicated to making fly fishing approachable and accessible for everyone. Her greatest passion is educating women and children, helping them discover the simplicity, beauty, and lifelong rewards of fly fishing. Whether teaching a first cast or sharing advanced techniques, Emily instructs from the heart, creating an encouraging environment where anglers of all ages can build confidence and develop a lasting love for the sport.
